What is "The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai: Across The 8th Dimension"?

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension is a film directed by W.D. Richter, written by Earl Mac Rauch and starring Peter Weller, John Lithgow, Ellen Barkin, Jeff Goldblum, Christopher Lloyd, and Clancy Brown.

The story is about a world famous neurosurgeon/rock star/comic book hero Buckaroo Banzai and his elite crew, The Hong Kong Cavaliers, who must race against time to save the world from an alien menace from Planet 10, by way of the 8th Dimension (opened by Buckaroo in a bold attempt to pass through solid matter).

The film was released in 1984 and did not do well at the box office. Since that time the film has achieved cult status as a sci-fi film that doesn't spoon feed the audience the story and feels like one part of a much longer adventure.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension is a movie, a book, a comic book, a docudrama, a world, and a rich universe.
