seeing (at least once) the Jamie Lee Curtis scene in the
theatre. Since I don't live too far from LA, I think we
just lucked into a special showing. I also remember
seeing some fans who had brought their press kits to a show.

Comment I will always be disappointed in those who have
seen BB and did not find the experiencde enjoyable. They
obviously didn't "get it". I wonder what their expectation was.
Violence, bloodshed, full frontal nudity, what? The movie
was what it was meant to be. A BLAST! One did not even
have to view the movie. You just needed to listen to the sound
track to enjoy it. Too bad.. Unless there is a sequel to BB, I
feel that we will all be lacking some good, clean, light humor
in our lives. Hell! How often can one come away from a movie
liking the arch villain, Emilio Whorfin [John Lithgow]? To this day
I think it was his very best performance.

Buckaroo was the first to have as profound an effect on my life
after Star Wars happened. But that crowd is just that, a crowd,
with generations of stories to tell. I miss him, but I possess a
few remembrances (no, the story about the patrimony suit isn't true)
If you were at Ratcon LA 84, it would make more sense.
And if you've ever been to the Retake Room in L.A, even more
sense. But this namedropping stuff is getting ugly, and I'm getting

Again, thanks for the nice set-up you've created for the Banzai
contingent out in cyberland. I bought a copy of the novel a few months
back from another Blue Blaze Irregular and my favorite quote from
the book is: "Consciousness is the impotent shadow of action"
For a comedy adventure this one sure knocked me on the head.
Basically it means you can think all day about something but it doesn't
mean squat unless you do something about it. At least that's what I
get from it. And you've definitely not let consciousness be your

Several more places besides those listed were Buckaroo's
name shows up:
1) One episode of Star Trek TNG (forget title and research material is
at home)
were the Starship Bonzai shows up. Its on a computer screen and can only
be seen for a few seconds. Slow it down with a VCR and you can see it.
2) He shows up in the Star Trek Encyclopedia. In fact they comment that
on one of the starships commisionning plaques the Chief Designer is one
ADM (short for Admiral) Buckaroo Bonzai and built by Yoyodyne. Will send

Comment: I first saw the film about 3 nights after the premier...
i had gone to see two other films on Hollywood Blvd and was
sadly disappointed at their quality. My butt was sore from sitting,
but i was determined to try one more film in search of the cinematic
transport i craved. The third film, luck of the draw, was TABB...
needless to say, i was enraptured, and my love affair with the
work began.Despite a terrible lack of publicity, i managed
to connect to Buckaroo. I was even more expanded on
encountering Mac Rauch's novel 2 years later,
and was inspired by the Principles and the Great Man himself.
